TrainedAlgorithmicMedia is an IPTC Digital Source Type controlled-vocabulary term for media made algorithmically with an AI model trained on captured content. Google’s current generative-AI image guidance names that value for images created using generative AI.
The exact evidence
The field is the XMP IPTC Extension property Iptc4xmpExt:DigitalSourceType. The term identifier is http://cv.iptc.org/newscodes/digitalsourcetype/trainedAlgorithmicMedia. A text label elsewhere in the file, including photoshop:Source, is not the same property.
Why a declaration is not detection
Metadata reports what a file carries. It may be absent, preserved, altered, or inconsistent with other signals. This validation build does not inspect pixels to determine provenance and does not make a legal or platform-compliance judgment.
Use the result carefully
Check the original file before distribution. If the checker reports Content Credentials uncertainty, keep the file unchanged while you investigate: modifying a signed image can invalidate credentials. A C2PA result is separate provenance evidence, not a Google approval signal.
